Blonktastic

Uh-oh, you turn your back on blonking for two weeks and the whole blonkosphere goes mental.

Some dude called Kathy Siesta got her knickers in a twist over some arsey comments and now her blonkchums are writing up a Code of Conduct to make sure it never, ever happens again.

Pfft. I'd love an arsey comment on my blonk. I think that's why scary commenters stay away from me — they can tell it'd make me feel important.

Well I really must take issue with your use of the word 'mental', I'm appalled that you find it so HILARIOUS that people just want to be NICE to one another and make sure the blogosphere is a place where everyone can be SAFE and COMFORTABLE, you must be very LONELY and INSECURE and PEOPLE LIKE YOU WILL BE FIRST AGAINST THE WALL COME THE REVOLUTION!     There are lots more.

    Some are manifestos, some are codes of conduct, some are just articles about the ethics of public writing... it's all been said before and saying it again, while possibly useful for the new bloggers caught up in the frenzy, won't really change anything because new people come online every day, discover the internet and happily make the same mistakes all over again.

    I personally like the Zen Blogger's Manifesto:

    Write not for others, as there are too many.
    Write for yourself, as there is only one.

    I think that if people are leaving shitty comments on your blog then it shows you're doing something right. Offending the sensibilities of small-minded fuckwits is all part of the fun.

    I despise the kind of bloggers who are so desperate to be loved that they end up writing nothing but insipid, inoffensive drivel because they're so terrified of somebody not liking them and leaving something nasty in the comments box.

    If you haven't offended somebody today, you are pointless and should kill yourself.
